From Gympie to Fraser Island is only an hours drive and for us it’s like an overseas holiday. The beaches, lakes and rivers are beyond stunning, with Lake McKenzie just a drive through amazing rainforests and Eli Creek a trek up the beach, it can’t get much better. Your surrounded but nature’s gift and wildlife like no where else. For a bit of history just up past Eli Creek you’ll find the Maheno Ship wreck and then further up to Indian head you’ve got the most goregous Champagne Pools. It’s a holiday destination not to miss. Since I can remember it’s been our yearly holiday and I wouldn’t of wanted to spend it any other way! So if your planning a next holiday or are close by and want somewhere to escape to for a few days, Fraser Island is the place to go! So many little stops along the island and if your not to much into camping there’s Kingfisher Bay on the Hervey Bay side and loads of Holiday homes and yes camping spots on the Inskip/Rainbow Beach side!My Uncles 71cm Taylor for the afternoon. Caught just down from Yidney Rocks where we were staying for the weekend.Filleting the Taylor ready for lunches the next day! Boy was it tasty!! Can’t beat nice little fish bites on Eli Creek sands while swimming in the freezing, BUT refreshing waters.Eli Creek. A flowing creek where a board walk takes you to the start and you are able to slowly cruise down the creek on your own flotation device or just as you are.The view from our room at Yidney Rocks! The stunning Lake McKenzie. This place is worth a drive to! The goregous blue water and white sand just draws you in even more. I could spend a whole day here. There are camping site available here too for those who are travelling the island and camping from place to place. I have camped here and it’s definitely worth the stay, a morning swim is all you need to freshen up.*not my Photo* |
